Gazi Project, Turkey

The development of the Gazi Project in Iskenderun Bay in Turkey had a significant benefit from input from the IPC team. This project included a coal fired thermal power station which required a coal import terminal capable of handling 10 Mtpa to provide fuel for the power station and for other purposes. The development of the project through conceptual design to financial modelling was provided over a period of several years. The project did not proceed due to the changing political and economic circumstances which became the controlling factor for the project implementation.

Porto Dobela, Mozambique

An involvement in the development, promotion and planning of a major bulk terminal in Mozambique. Under the terms of a Concession Agreement a scheme was developed to transport iron ore from a known source to the new site by slurry pumping techniques. The design and configuration of the port facilities was established including cost estimates. The project appeared to be commercially attractive and would have been successful with commodity prices of the time. This project did not come to fruition due to the length of time taken to reach agreement and the political and environmental impacts of the project structure.
