IPC was involved in an IFC Due Diligence programme to review the financial viability of purchasing additional equipment at the new port at Sokhna.
The input involved a site visit followed by extensive assessment of the efficiency of the current operations and the financial assessment of the port operations with new equipment.
Funding by IFC was agreed and provided to the Port which has now resulted in new equipment being put in place with a corresponding increasing in performance.
IPC members had major roles in an EU-funded project to advise on development plans for the ports of Odessa, Illichivsk (now Chornomorsk) and Yuzhny.
Inputs included review of the port facilities and development programmes, preparation of technical feasibility reports and preliminary designs for a new container terminal and a channel/harbour deepening project for capesize bulk carriers. Preparation of model tender documents and procurement procedures for terminal concession, participation in workshops on port studies and PPP procurement.
